MEMORANDUM To Apex Investment Partners: According to my analysis of the Accessline’s proposed term sheet, I do not believe that Apex would serve its own interests, or those of its investing partners, by investing in Accessline according to the terms proposed. By investing at the proposed valuation, according to the proposed control and incentive structure, Apex would be shouldering a disproportionate share of the risk should Accessline fail to meet its performance targets, or require fresh inflows of capital from future investment rounds. Nor can Accessline take the sort of steps necessary to protect its investment in the case of management failure. Dividends should be made cumulative and issuable upon a liquidation event or an IPO. Such dividends may be converted, if the holder desires, to common shares. This will encourage management to seek a quicker exit. Liquidation preference must be strengthened in other ways. In my opinion, the current arrangement allows management and employees to receive unjustified returns in the case of a liquidation. What materials are appropriate for me to use with this group of students? 4. What learning activities will my students and I need to be engaged in as I teach the lesson? 5. What learning targets do I want my students to achieve as a result of my teaching? 6. How should I organize and arrange the students in my class for the upcoming lessons and activities?With these questions and taking into consideration of their age, their ability to see things in their true light, their level of self-control, their language ability, etc. , I chose to use an informal observation method for the students during their classroom activities. This is performance assessment. It not only assesses my students’ learning, it also assesses my teaching goals and the appropriateness of my teaching materials. I have prepared a short song with words to be assessed at the end of the week.There are two main purposes for this assessment. One is to assess whether the ten children could remember and understand these words. The second is to assess other developments of the children. All of the words are my weekly teaching goals and the music gives them a signal of these words’ meanings. The children need to memorize these words and be able to say them correctly. I chose some wordless books named â€Å"I can†¦Ã¢â‚¬ ,and â€Å"Animals on farm† and left them on the bookshelf where they were available to the students at any time.During the work time or circle time, I also played different styles of music to which to work to, that coordinate with my teaching goal. They have this English class time for a total of 45 minutes, including 15 minutes of circle time and 30 minutes of playground time, each day. Our weekly topic is about such verbs as walk, jump, tiptoe, gallop, hop, and skate. My role is to focus on observing these 10 children’s daily conversation and daily language activities. Yang’s role, as a Montessori teacher and being very familiar with our objectives, is to focus on observing these children’s daily activities.As such we are observing from different perspectives. We did not inform the students of our expectations because we did not want to limit their imagination and give them any pressure. This intelligence challenges the popular belief that mental and physical activities are unrelated. Musical Intelligence encompasses the capability to recognize and musical pitches, tones, and rhythms and use them to compose music.Auditory abilities are also required for a person to develop this intelligence in relation to pitch and tone but it is not needed for the knowledge of rhythm. These two functions are separate from each other, but most cultures give these two a close association (Dr. Howard Gardner. 1983). Auditory functions are also not needed for the knowledge of interpersonal feelings and intentions of others which Gardner categorizes as the Intrapersonal Intelligence–the ability to understand one’s own feelings and motivations.From the above description, you can see we mainly choose Natural Occurring tasks (for Performance assessment) and integrated them with the Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Here, I think it’s necessary to give explanation of â€Å"performance assessment†, â€Å" Naturally Occurring† and â€Å"Multiple Intelligences Theory† According to Nitko and Brookhart (2007), a performance assessment presents a task that requires students to do an activity that requires applying their knowledge and skills for several learning targets and uses clearly defined criteria to evaluate how well the student has achieved this task.Naturally occurring tasks require you to observe and assess students in natural settings: in typical classroo m settings, on the playground, at home etc. In this setting you are more likely to see how the student typically performs when they want to achieve a goal, such as cooperating with members of a group to accomplish a task. In natural settings you do not tell students that they are being assessed, nor do you control the situation in any way. Gardner defines intelligence as â€Å"the capacity to solve problems or to fashion products that are valued in one or more cultural setting† (Gardner ; Hatch, 1989). Using biological and anthropological research, he formulated a list of seven intelligences. This new outlook on intelligence differs greatly from the traditional view which generally recognizes only two intelligences, verbal and computational. The seven intelligences that Gardner defines are: 1. Logical-Mathematical Intelligence consists of the ability to detect patterns, reason deductively and think logically. This intelligence is most often associated with scientific and mathematical thinking. . Linguistic Intelligence involves having a mastery of language. This intelligence includes the ability to effectively manipulate language to express oneself rhetorically or poetically. It also allows one to use language as a means to remember information. 3. Spatial Intelligence gives one the ability to manipulate and create mental images in order to solve problems. This intelligence is not limited to visual domains–Gardner notes that spatial intelligence is also formed in blind children. . The results from the assessment showed that some of the students show their intelligence through the sport, and musical intelligences. So, we began to think about teaching and asked ourselves why we don’t teach English by using more sport activities or musical activities. At last we provided student feedback in terms of levels of competence, talked with parents and adjusted teaching methods appropriately. Why did we choose a classroom performance assessment? 1. Good for children; 2. Good for teachers Performance assessments have several advantages over other assessments.These advantages are summarized here (Hambleton Murphy, 1992; Linn Gronlund, 1995; Oosterhof, 1994; Rudner Boston, 1994; Shepard, 1991; Stiffins, 1994; Wiffins, 1990): 1. Performance tasks clarify the meaning of complex learning targets. Authentic performance tasks match complex learning targets to a close degree. When you present them to students and share them with parents, you make the learning goals clear through actual example. 2. Performance tasks assess the ability â€Å"to do†. An important school outcome is the ability to use knowledge and skill to solve problems and lead a useful life, rather than simply to answer questions about doing. 3.Performance assessment is consistent with modern learning theory. Modern learning theory emphasizes that students should use their previous knowledge to build new knowledge structures, be actively involved in exploration and inquiry through task like activities, and construct meaning for themselves from educational experience. Most performance assessments engage students and actively involve them with complex tasks. Many performance tasks require exploration and inquiry. 4. Performance assessments may be linked more closely with teaching activities. When your teaching requires students to be actively involved in inquiry and performance activities, performance assessments are a meaningful component.This is not an advantage of performance assessments if your teaching is primarily teacher directed or uses lecture style. 5. Performance tasks integration of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Complex performance tasks, especially those that span longer periods, usually require students to use many different skills and abilities. Portfolio assessment, projects, and research reports, for example, require a student to use knowledge from several different subject areas and many different abilities. 6. Performance tasks broaden the approach to student assessment. Introducing performance assessment along with traditional objective formats broadens the types of learning targets you assess and offers students a variety of ways of expressing their learning. This increases the validity of your student evaluations. 7. Performance tasks let teachers assess the processes students use as well as products they produce. Many performance tasks offer you the opportunity to watch the way a student goes about solving a problem or completing a task. Appropriate scoring rubrics help you collect information about the quality of the processes and strategies students use, as well as assess the quality of the finished product. What did I find? For teachers 1. After doing this assessment, we both got some experience. As young children’s teachers, we are important decision makers and must plan the environment accordingly. Teachers, make it your first task to know your students better, for you surely do not know them† (Jean Jacques Rousseau in Ellis, 2001, p. 67). Today’s classrooms provide unique challenges for teachers. Teachers must know content matter as well as state standards. When we craft assessment for children, we should be considering many potential factors for children so as not to delay or hinder children’s development, while also discovering their problems and potential capabilities. 2. It’s difficult to craft a high-quality performance assessment, because good performance assessments should match complex learning targets. Teachers need to learn a significant number of skills to create high-quality tasks.For example, we used multiple intelligence in this assessment, so teachers must be familiar with this theory and use it in the classroom to assess performance of tasks. This means that educators should recognize and teach to a broader range of talents and skills. For students 1. Completing performance tasks takes a lot of time for the students. Most authentic tasks take days, weeks or even longer periods of time for young children to complete. 2. A student’s performance on a task very much depends on their prior knowledge, the particular wording or phrasing of the a task, the context in which it is administered, and the specific subject-matter content embedded in the task (Lane et al. 1992; Linn, 1993; Shavelson Baxter, 1991). Conclusion In conclusion, I want to say that classroom assessment with naturally occurring task is more suitable to young children’s language learning than other kinds of assessment. However it still needs more work, especially in the development of appropriate rubrics. The teachers doing this type of assessment need to be educated in the knowledge and skills that are needed and also need to be patient. Yang and I had almost one week observation of all of these children. Some of children learned from books. Some of children learned from the teacher. Some of children learned from conversations with each others.In conclusion, different children have different learning styles and all teachers should respect their different learning styles by providing different learning opportunities for every child. After the people of Rome were getting comfortable, the Roman civilization began to fall down hill. People were so lazy; they did not live up to their duties. The trade was very little, not letting the towns develop. Trade routes did not have protection, without; this led to rise of kings and the decrease of nobles. Rome tried to start educated their people again, but their system of education was inadequate. Some parts were slightly educated but it was still hard to get up to that in other parts, it slowed them down an incredible amount.Some people tried to educate themselves, and that lead to opinions which led to fights (â€Å"Turning†). The government was relying on slaves to teach, but after there were so many people in Rome there was less money, making the lack of education increase throughout the population. The Bay of Pigs Invasion. The story of the failed invasion of Cuba at the Bay of Pigs is one of mismanagement, overconfidence, and lack of security. The blame for the failure of the operation falls directly in the lap of the Central Intelligence Agency and a young president and his advisors. The fall out from the invasion caused a rise in tension between the two great superpowers and ironically 34 years after the event, the person that the invasion meant to topple, Fidel Castro, is still in power. To understand the origins of the invasion and its ramifications for the future it is first necessary to look at the invasion and its origins. Part I: The Invasion and its Origins. The Bay of Pigs invasion of April 1961, started a few days before on April 15th with the bombing of Cuba by what appeared to be defecting Cuban air force pilots. At 6 a.m. in the morning of that Saturday, three Cuban military bases were bombed by B-26 bombers. The airfields at Camp Libertad, San Antonio de los Baos and Antonio Maceo airport at Santiago de Cuba were fired upon. Seven people were killed at Libertad and forty-seven people were killed at other sites on the island. Two of the B-26s left Cuba and flew to Miami, apparently to defect to the United States. The Cuban Revolutionary Council, the government in exile, in New York City released a statement saying that the bombings in Cuba were ". . . carried out by 'Cubans inside Cuba' who were 'in contact with' the top command of the Revolutionary Council . . . ." The New York Times reporter covering the story alluded to something being wrong with the whole situation when he wondered how the council knew the pilots were coming if the pilots had only decided to leave Cuba on Thursday after " . . . a suspected betrayal by a fellow pilot had precipitated a plot to strike . . . ." Whatever the case, the planes came down in Miami later that morning, one landed at Key West Naval Air Station at 7:00 a.m. and the other at Miami International Airport at 8:20 a.m. Both planes were badly damaged and their tanks were nearly empty. On the front page of The New York Times the next day, a picture of one of the B-26s was shown along with a picture of one of the pilots cloaked in a baseball hat and hiding behind dark sunglasses, his name was withheld. A sense of conspiracy was even at this early stage beginning to envelope the events of that week. In the early hours of April 17th the assault on the Bay of Pigs began. In the true cloak and dagger spirit of a movie, the assault began at 2 a.m. with a team of frogmen going ashore with orders to set up landing lights to indicate to the main assault force the precise location of their objectives, as well as to clear the area of anything that may impede the main landing teams when they arrived. At 2:30 a.m. and at 3:00 a.m. two battalions came ashore at Playa Gir?n and one battalion at Playa Larga beaches. The troops at Playa Gir?n had orders to move west, northwest, up the coast and meet with the troops at Playa Larga in the middle of the bay. A small group of men were then to be sent north to the town of Jaguey Grande to secure it as well. When looking at a modern map of Cuba it is obvious that the troops would have problems in the area that was chosen for them to land at. The area around the Bay of Pigs is a swampy marsh land area which would be hard on the troops. The Cuban forces were quick to react and Castro ordered his T-33 trainer jets, two Sea Furies, and two B-26s into the air to stop the invading forces. Off the coast was the command and control ship and another vessel carrying supplies for the invading forces. The Cuban air force made quick work of the supply ships, sinking the command vessel the Marsopa and the supply ship the Houston, blasting them to pieces with five-inch rockets. In the end the 5th battalion was lost, which was on the Houston, as well as the supplies for the landing teams and eight other smaller vessels. The way how I identify and use different types of evidences when carrying out assessments are by reading through all the chosen units assessment reports to have a clear understanding of the criteria/elements which the candidate must meet. The different types of evidences which can be used are, Task Statements, Work Product/ Work Evidences, Observations, Supplementary Evidences, Questionnaires, Professional Discussions and also Witness Statements. Q2. When comparing different types of evidences, I make sure the work product overs either, the Skills and Techniques or the Performance Indicators depends on the NVQ course, this get done on both the mandatory unit as well as the unit the candidate is working on. This is done by me checking the evidence against the Assessment Report and referencing the elements which have been met. Q3. When it comes to me collecting evidence I normally get my candidates to print their evidences in black and white instead of colour to save the cost of their ink cartridge. If possible I would also ask them to print double sided to save paper. I always ask my candidates if they have created any sort of evidence prior to our eeting, that way I could see if the evidence is suitable for the task and if its meets any of the elements on the assessment report if so this saves a lot of time on the candidate behalf if not, I do set my candidates deadlines for them to meet, so that way then can complete to hand over evidences. Q4. If a candidate has completed evidences prior to the assessment process I would ask them to demonstrate how they started and completed the task. I would also have a Professional Discussion with them to cover certain Performance Indicators as well as getting a Witness Statement completed by a person high then he candidate, someone who can confirm that the candidate was able tackle this task. Depends on the unit, I would sometimes also give Questionnaires to them to cover their Knowledge and Understanding. Q5. To develop and agree assessment plans with the candidates I consider all Performance Indicators and Skills and Techniques for each chosen unit, I then advise them on the assessment methods which will be used to collect the evidence and also a date/time of completion is set and agreed by both the candidate and myself. Q6. To assess the performance of my candidate I observe them while they are ackling the work evidence and I also question them this could either be verbal or written. Through this method I can pin point their performance against specific parts of the standard. evelop their competency would be to give them extra training on specific areas which they lack knowledge in and also set them task where I could observe them on that particular training to see whether or not they understood to concept and learnt from the training. I would also question them to confirm they understanding. By doing this I can make sure the candidate will be able to meet the criteria/element. Q8. Diff erent candidate have different needs, some need more training and guidance than others. So when changing assessment procedures all aspect must be considered. For example I have a candidate who is a Personal Assistant for a Head Teacher in a school which I assess in. I show her the Action Plans and Assessment Reports and explain the criteria/element which she must meet, she is able to produce evidence instantly due to IT knowledge and Job role, this candidate need very little training in her Business and Administration course as long as I explain what is required from her and her work products/work evidences. However I then have a candidate who is a receptionist at a medical centre, this candidate has dyslexia and needs a huge amount of training and guidance, especially with her Task Statements. A lot more time must be spent with this candidate and the deadline of evidence must be slightly longer then others. Q9. When collecting evidences must ensure there are no confidentially information which relates to neither the company nor their clients/customers. The evidences must be created by the candidates so that way they are valid and fair. If the candidate does not create the evidence then it is hard to identify whether or not it is air. All evidences must be valid. I must check dates and check the assessment reports. I must speak to the Manager and advise them which type of evidence the candidate will be submitting. QIO. When completing work evidences, the evidence must follow the assessment standard of the CADCentre unit standard booklet. QI 1. To measure existing levels of competence I always question my candidates, this could either be verbal or written. I also get the candidate to perform the task so Im able to observe and Judge their competency level. Q12. To make a valid and reliable assessment of my candidates knowledge I ormally hold a professional discussion with them and also given them questionnaires to complete. Q13. To make a valid and reliable assessment of my candidates performance I get my candidate to produce work evidence to support there claim, to complete a Task Statement and I then type out the Observation which will backup the task which they completed and also to reference the criteria/elements which they successfully matched. collect the work evidence and the Task Statement from the candidate and then I would go through the assessment report and tick off the criteria/elements which they uccessfully met. This is done once IVe collect all evidences towards the relevant unit. This will show that the candidate was capable to meeting the required criteria/ elements. QI 5. To check that the evidence was created by the candidate I always ask them to demonstrate who they created the evidence and also I would take down the file path. The file path is added to the candidates work evidence as well as in my Observations. Q16. To make sure that supporting evidences supplied by other people are reliable I ask the Manager to write out a Witness Statement, I would also speak to the witness egarding the candidates unit, explaining the criteria/elements which they need to cover and will be assed on. The witness must have knowledge and experience in the area which I will assess to allow them to write up the statement otherwise it will not be valid. QI 7. I always tell the candidates that they can use evidences which they previously created towards the chosen unit. For instance an ITQ candidate might have already created a Powerpoint presentation a few weeks ago and as she/he Chose this particular unit, instead of getting them to re-create another resentation we would use the same as long as it met all the relevant criteria/ elements. This saves the candidate a lot of time and effort and fast tracks he collection of the evidence. Q18. The way how I give constructive feedback to my candidates is by after the completion ofa task I would sit down with them and go over the task again. My feedback sheet will state the unit number, the task which the candidate has completed, date of completion, a brief paragraph giving a positive feedback on the task, state any issues which the candidate might have had during the task and also I ention the next stage which they will be moving on to. Q19. The way how I involve my candidates in the planning of assessment , I sit with them and explain all the criteria/elements which they will need to meet, the date of completion must also be agreed by both parties. I would also Judge whether or not the candidate will need extra training times on certain criteria/element to allow them to meet them. Q20. To keep to the data protection act I must store all candidates details safe and secure. Candidate detail must not be shown nor shared with any other candidates or any one outside the CADCentre. Q21. I have a lot of patients and give a lot of my time to my candidates who I feel lack to take part in different in their assessment. Im constantly training them to regain their confidences and knowledge. I also advise them that they can email or call me regarding any questions which they might have. I also give them the option of training them through specific area. IVe noticed that more practice the candidate has the better their understanding is. Q22. I make sure that I treat all my candidates the same, all with the same respect regardless to age, gender, race or beliefs. I train all my candidates equally, however I o sometimes give extra time/training to those who are in need. Q23. To meet the needs to each of my candidate, I assess them on the second initial visit after the signup. I question them verbally to have a clear view of the competency and needs. From that I can Judge which candidate will need extra training. Q24. I always give a feedback to all my candidates after the completion ofa task or even a unit. Again in this I will verbal talk to them as well as write out a feedback sheet. Feedbacks are very important to candidates, they can see their progressions and also identify their weaknesses. Q25. I have always built a good friendly relationship with all my candidates, make them feel at ease to ask questions and get in contact with me at any time regarding any issues which they might have with the course/evidence. Q26. To monitor and review the progress of my candidates I always complete an eight week review which states and identifies how the candidate is progressing, whether its a slow progression or an up to date progress. Deadlines are always set with my candidates and some do meet them and some do go over the deadline. Q27. Candidates are always upgrading their positions within companies. I must ake sure that my knowledge and understand of the course, assessment reports and standards are ofa high level to allow me to assess the candidates. Knowledge in softwares are also very important, as a candidate might chose to complete their NVQ in a specific software such as Access. Access is a database software which not many people know how to use and not many companies use, so to be able to assess and train in Access my knowledge and understand must be high. Q28. To update my existing skills and experience I would take full advantage of any training/course opportunities which may arise. This will enhance my skills, nowledge and also experience. Q29. I would take in consideration any Internal Verifier feedbacks, I would also constantly look at the City and Guilds web site and also sign up for the Newsletters. Q30. To improve my personal development I would again take full advantage of any qualifications and criterias. Q31. To meet my candidates needs in a safe, fair, valid and reliable manner I would take in to account there needs and work in line with the relevant legislations. As I mentioned before I have a candidate who suffers from Dyslexia, with her I need to print the text in a larger font and explain each point to her fully for her to have fully nderstanding of what is required from her. Q32. To recognise and challenge unfair discrimination in assessments I would refer back to the procedure, CADCentre Handbook. Q33. I would liaise with the Internal Verifier and then External Verifier to get advice on meeting candidates special assessment requirements. Q34. To identify and plan for issues of confidentiality and data protection during the assessment process I would either collect the Work Product or if the data is confidential then I would only request the file path. The file path is needed in case he Internal Verifier or External Verifier wanted to go to the company and have a look and the evidence. Q35. The way how I would record, store and pass on assessment decisions to other people within an agreed system would be by recording it on assessment plans and completing a summary of achievement. Q36. Program design The program design describes the way the overall training program will be planned.   Program design consist of   important   aspect of the training   including the conduction of the needs analysis for the   company, the prioritizing o the need in the training place, definition of the   course objectives to match the   training needs, and the selection of   the training formats that will be used in the   training program. a) Need analysis A need analysis is carried out in order to identify the  Ã‚   area in which the organization needs to carry out training.   The need analysis is the first step in determine the whole training program. The need analysis should be carried out comprehensively in order to understand the specific area under in which the training will emphasize. Usually a need analysis will come up with a long list of needs that the organization will have to look at. In need analyses there are three types of data that the trainer will have to collect. The pre-training behaviour will give the knowledge that the trainees have. The post training behaviour will give the expectation from the training that the organization wants to achieve through training.   The workplace reinforcement and constraints will give the factors for the job which can help or hinder the trainees in applying what they will have learned. (Jenning, 1996) b)    Course objectives This should identify the specific objectives that the training will achieve. Identification of the course objective is likely to increase the effectiveness of training and evaluation of needs assessment.   Basically three types of course objectives will have to be looked at. These include the planning objectives, the process objectives and the learning objectives.   This will help in the formatting of the training. c)    Training format There are different formats that can be used to deliver training.   The best format that an organization can choose is the one which will create a setting an environment which is most conducive to learn.   The format has to be flexible.   There are formal and informal training formats Informal training format will include format like one on one tutoring which   can be teem consuming but very effective,   use groups, discussion groups and   newsletters.   On the other hand formal training formats include formats like classroom training like lectures or demonstration, video or audio, computer based trailing, satellite training, teleconferencing, use of simulations, use of manuals, and on   job training.   The formal training methods have become most common used in organisational training since they are more effective and have been supported by the emerging technologies. (Consulting, 2000) d)    Program delivery This is the most important part in the training process. The way the training will be delivered is important in determining how it will be effective to achieve the goals of the training.   Delivery of training should be based on principle of adult learning since most of the employees who undergo training are adults.   There sold a proven adults-instructions practices rather than the traditional classroom delivery method which is likely to compromise the quality of training. e)    E-learning With the increased use of technology in the world, e-learning is also rising to be an important factor in the training programs. E-learning involves the process of delivering learning through the use of person computer. It is widely used in education institution but it is also fining it place in the employee training programs. In employee training e-learning has been providing an effective time saving method of learning as compared to other methods.   It is also easy to carry training from any part of the world can therefore can be used when an organisation choose third party training. However it is expensive since al the employees will need to have a computer. 5. How adults learn According to the learning theories, it has been shown that adults learn different from how children learn.   Unlike children, adults are likely to relate what they hear to their experience and the knowledge they have gathered over time.   Adults are also good listeners and will digest what they are listen.   This means that when training adults, one need to have all the facts to their fingers and ensure that they are correct as challenge can arise at any one time. (Consulting, 2000) According to the adult learning theories there are important factor that have to be considered when teaching them.   First it should be understood that adults are less interested in the overview, they are more interested in what they are learning. They need to be given examples which can help them to relate what they are learning with their real experience. Since they are more critical on what is delivery any information that is likely to contradict what they know should be delivered slowly and in an efficient manner. The training should assist them to make connections with what they already know.   The pace of training should also be suited for their mind. Fast training may prove difficult for them while a too slow training is boring.   The training should avoid trial and error ventures and should reinforce the learnt concept in their real life example. (Jenning, 1996) a)    Designing training experience for adults There are important principal that the trainers must consider when planning adult learning.   The structure of the workshop should take to consideration that adult learns usual need some feedback which is likely to mark their progress in training.   The usually learn best when their own experience is integrated in the learning process. They should be given opportunity to ask questions and interact to share experience.   The adult learners are responsible for their learning and they prefer to share with one another in the process.   This interaction must be given a chance.   Adults are likely to learn in an environment where there is mutual trust and respect for one another.   Adults learners must be motivate din order to feel the need to learn. This earns that they have to be shown the important of undergoing the training and how it is going to affect their job performance. b)    Classroom instruction In order to ensure that there is effectiveness of the training process, there are important characters and method that should be incorporated in the training. some of the   most important factors in training include the   inclusion of discussion breaks time which agreed with   all the participants, ensure that the participants are comfortable, state   clearly the objectives of the training, make a preparation of   the material to be used before the class being so that you can evaluate them, use training aids and establish rapports in the course of training, ensure that you don’t interrupt the   participate when they are contributing,   be yourself and more flexible in the course of the training, answer all the question asked and provide constant feedbacks to the participants. c) Documenting available training courses In order to keep up with the course of the training resources, it is important to keep written records as they have been learnt.   This will help the learners to remind themselves of what they have learned in the course of the training. This is also important as it will help the learners to understand what they have been learning and therefore keep up with the course of the training. It also helps the management to see the courses that are available. d)   Measuring and evaluating training effectiveness There had to be an effective way of evaluating the learning process in order to understand the effectiveness of the learning process. This is very critical since it will determine whether the organization is really meeting its objectives or not. It will help the organisation to understand the important steps that are being made in the course of the training. There are many methods of evaluation that is used in the course of the training. The most effective evaluation methods that are used include the use of smile sheet which is one of the five point evaluation which enquiries about the quality of the instructor and others, there is also the pre-test or post techs which is used to measure the increased in knowledge for the learners.   The presets will establish a baseline while the post test will confirm any improvement that is being made which can be directly attributed to the learning process. An observation can also be carried out on the specific performance of each individual including the trainer and the supervisor.   This will detect any changes in the work behaviour which can be directly attributed to the learning process.  Ã‚   Work performance can also e used as a method of evaluation. In this case work performance will look at the specific job tasks and performance indicators. These indicators are usually well defined and measured before and after training.

Grieving the Loss of My Mother I stopped in the middle of the street and drew in a deep breath. "Where am I going?" I asked myself. I glanced at my watch, still walking, and noticed with a shudder that it was already past midnight. "Time flies when you're having fun," I muttered, my voice filled with a surprising sarcasm. I turned the corner of 54th street, and glanced down the block. No one. Part of me wished that someone would have been there, someone who would question me and demand that I go straight home. But I knew that if I went back, I'd be right where I started. And I'd promised myself progress this night. Maybe I wouldn't be able to get away, the odds of that happening were clearly against me, and I was aware of it, but every moment I could be free from the problems was one more I could cling to. Suddenly, a car pulled up next to me, the headlights blinding me momentarily. I glanced inside to see Micha sitting at the wheel. "Get in," she said. I crossed to the passenger side and got in, without objecting, due to the fact that I knew it was too late to be defiant. And I was too tired. I braced myself for what was to come next, but my older sister said nothing. She put her car into gear, and pulled away without a word. We drove in silence, the only noise being her deep breathing and my short, shallow sighs. I realized just how far I had walked, as we drove to my house- at least 5 miles. When we reached our house, I looked at it, as if I was seeing it for the first time in my life- the old fashioned porches, the balcony, the huge, beautiful windows. I stayed in the car, as did Micha, neither of us making an attempt to move as she commented on the grass needing cut, and the mess the neighbors had made in the front yard. I heard her, but I wasn't listening- I was merely staring ahead of me, debating if I should get out and run inside or try to justify my actions. "Micha..." I began, but she cut me off short. "Go get some sleep," she said dryly, "We'll talk in the morning." I got out of the car, leaving her in the car as I briskly ran up the walkway.

Principals of Environmental Science Joshua Hammack ENV/100 February 4, 2013 Christopher Bertram Principals of Environmental Science Environmental science is the relationship between the earth and all living things and organisms that use the earth’s resources to sustain life. Environmental science is also the ongoing study of the environment and all of its interconnected systems. The style of research performed by environmental scientists is very diverse. Also, environmental science is composed of many components such as geology, physics, social science, meteorology, and biology. Social science looks more at how humans and animals interact within the environment and the effects they have on one another. â€Å"Environmental scientists try to establish general principles about how the natural world functions. They use these principles to develop viable solutions to environmental problems—solutions that are based as much as possible on scientific knowledge† (M. C. , 2009). Technology and science affect the problems and solutions of today’s society both positively and negatively. Take for instance the invention of the car by Karl Friedrich Benz in 1885, (Bruno, 1997) while there was a demand for better transportation as people became more sophisticated and wanted to travel further than possible on a horse it created a demon for the environment to fight. Today, worldwide there are more than 1 billion passenger vehicles on the roadways, (Tencer, 2011) and with an increase in automobiles comes added pollution from oil, grease, petroleum, and rubber, but not only the cars produce pollution. The manufacturing does equal amounts of damage from steel mills, rubber plants and stamping plants. With growing population these numbers will begin to rise. At the same time the technologies that are contributing to the Worlds pollution problems are also being used to help solve the problem by creating means necessary to obtain valuable data to aid in the solution. For example studying marine life in the depths of the ocean would not be possible without using motorboats to reach these remote locations. The double edge sword being that the boat itself pollutes the water. Finding a balance between the neccessity of technology and the over consumption of technology is a slippery slope, but it is crucial to the sustainability of the environment. â€Å"Ecologist Garrett Hardin (1915–2003) is best known for his 1968 essay â€Å"The Tragedy of the Commons. † In it he contended that our inability to solve complex environmental problems is the result of a struggle between short-term individual welfare and long-term environmental sustainability, the ability to meet humanity’s current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs† (M. C. , 2009). It is essential that society studies the sustainability of our resources not only so they can be preserved, but to aid in the prediction of growth and evolution. Some countries like the US, Canada, Japan, and Europe are highly developed countries that are consuming the majority of the worlds sustainable consumption. As the under developed countries such as Haiti, yemen, and Sudan begin to grow they will take on a larger share of the sustainable consumption. Without monitoring the development from an environmental point of view the worlds population could literally eat themselves out of house and home. â€Å"Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it. † –Edmund Burke. Looking back through history the United States has not always been the best stewards to the land. In fact, through many mistakes the lessons of Mother Nature have been ingrained into our culture. The concept of conservation and preservation was brought about by a group of men in the mid 1800’s through the early 1900’s. Benjamin Harrison (1833–1901), Grover Cleveland (1837–1908), William McKinley (1843–1901), and Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919) were all the first to use the Forest Reserve Act, this act was put into affect in 1881 which gave the president the authority to establish forest reserves on public, federally owned land (M. C. , 2009). Before this the lands in the western United States were falling victim to deforestation with 160 billion board foot of lumber being cut from 1860, just after the Civil War to 1900. Throughout history the government has been very proactive in establishing programs to help preserve and protect the natural resources. Until 1970, the voice of the environmentalist was nothing but a whisper that was only heard through two organizations, the Sierra Club and the National Wildlife Federation (M. C. , 2009). When Denis Hays, a Harvard graduate student was influenced by a former Wisconsin senator to organize the first recognized Earth Day it bacame a gateway for informing the public on sustainability, consumption and what we needed to do to preserve our environment. Eventually Earth Day became a way to show people that their little contribution to reducing their carbon footprint as much as possible was magnified greatly when coupled with others efforts. â€Å"By Earth Day 1990, the movement had spread around the world, signaling the rapid growth in environmental consciousness† (M. C. , 2009). In conclusion, it is inevitable that the world as a whole will continue to grow, the population will increase, and resources will be exhuasted. It is for that reason the human race must be aware of what is coming.

Event Design Proposal

Introduction We are an event organization that is called Eventastic. This agency consists of six experienced and motivated managers that have worked individually after finishing their studies. Due to the fact that we were sharing the same interests, vision and mission we came together. Every manager took a big responsibility in accomplishing their role with professionalism and working on the concept towards a common goal. All the managers have worked in a productive way and our main focus was on fulfilling the clients' needs and expectations.We want to thank Mr. van Driem for giving us the opportunity to develop the concept and be part of the Olympic Games 2012 in London. Furthermore, we want to thank our teacher Ms. Cromme, for her support and inspiration during the realization of our proposal. 1. Event Company 1. 1 Description of Eventastic We are working with six professional event managers since 2000. We are all specialized in our own work field, as you can see in the organizatio n structure below. Because of our different cultures, we look at organizing an event with different perspectives.Besides that, we all have a lot of experience in the event world and work together for almost 13 years. Organizing the lottery of the ‘UEFA Cup’ and organizing ‘Queensday’ in Amsterdam are two examples of our previous events. We are committed to ensuring an event that brings exceptional results. The red part of the flag stands in regards to the aim of hosting the Olympic gam es in the Netherlands also for the international openness of the Netherlands. ? White can be associated with wind, which stands for new ideas and innovation. This color should show the innovation of Holland? s products and companies. Blue can be associated with water, which stands for life or also survive. The Dutch flag is surrounded by an orange frame, which stands for the â€Å"Dutch feeling and experience† and furthermore it can be associated with our slogan â€Å"See the world through Dutch eyes†. 3. Venue Management 3. 1 Business to Business 3. 1. 1 Target group When it comes to the target group, it can be said that the companies or people from the target group are very important since they may be the potential customers for the event and there are lots of opportunities to collaborate with them.Since the subject is Sport & Dutch Leisure and Hospitality, the target group for B2B is hotels chains that people can make business with. These hotel chains can offer pack ages to other customers and attract them in an easier way. At this point, tour operators are also important since they can help to offer packages including transportation, accommodation and so on. They will contribute to have concrete offers for the customers. Booking agencies can handle arrangements related to the venture in the events.They can supply materials like speakers and so on. In addition, food and beverage industry is also important since it has some advantages to outsource catering companies. It is more effective and cheaper. In addition, event planners/agencies, marketers and sport events have the place in the target group. With the help of these target groups which can also be seen as potential customers that are aimed to attract to the event, the event will be a good platform for them to meet new people, do network and strength the relationships within the industry.The companies and people from the target group have the opportunity to meet each other and do some busin ess. They can also see what competitors do. It is also a good opportunity for them to follow new trends and developments of the industry. They can also promote their new or already existing products. They will have the chance of meeting with new people and companies and/or strengthen their connections. The Holland Business Promotion House which is located at the Woolwhich pier in London is the exhibition area where also the opening takes place.The stands of the exhibition will be for clients which HBPO invites and for guests who booked the red packages for the B2B event. The three Tall ships are build up and decorated for the business meetings. Each of them has a capacity of about 120 people. To guaranty a good atmosphere to network the capacity is decreased down to 80 guests per ship. All meeting facilities has Flipcharts, pad and pens, Laptops, PA system with microphone, internet connection an d more are on the Tall ships. These stuff are rented from the Nautisch Evenementen Bureau. In the appendix there are Floor plans of the tall ships and of the Woolwich peer where the Holland Business Promotion House is build up. 3. 1. 5 Decoration Holland Business Promotion HouseDuring the whole Business to Business event the different locations are decorated according to the concept the Dutch colors. Due to the fact that it is a business event it is necessary that the decoration is discreet to many colors and to many decoration material look not professional. At the outside of the building there are Dutch flags and an orange carpet in front of the entrance door. Additionally to the exhibition stands that are decorated individually by the responsible companies there are flowers like red, white and blue tulips. Furthermore all employees are wearing orange ties, bow ties or scarves. Also the cove lightning in the insight of the building is decorated in orange.From the Holland Business Promotion House leads a carpet in the colors of the Dutch flag out of the building. After a couple of meters it splits into one carpet for each color which leads the guests directly to the Tall ships. According to the different associations with the colors red, white and blue there are flambeaus at the entrance of the red ship, about two meters high classic windmills at the entrance of the white ship and lighthouses at entrance of the blue ship. Tall ships The employees at the entrance but also inside of the ship is dressed in a formal way with orange ties. The atmosphere is amongst other things because of warm light very friendly.The beamer that is also used during the presentations of the guest speakers projects pictures and short clips about typical, historical or innovative Dutch contexts. The rest of the decoration divers from the different ships like for example that there are red tulips on the tables of the red Tall ship and other colors on the other ships. On shelves there a re all kind of Dutch books and some pictures show impressions of the Dutch culture. Additionally to the Dutch flag that decorates the Tall ships small flags of all countries that part of the Olympics are shown on the ships. Hotels To let the customers of the Business to Business event be part of the concept the Dutch colors during the whole period also some parts of the hotel are adapt to the concept.As an example the slogan see the world through Dutch eyes is as an eye catcher written down on the keycards ( and the name of the sponsor). So there is not anything to do with the breakfast for the F department. The guests will have a welcome cocktail every day in the tall ships. There will be snacks, appetizers and soft drinks too. The guests will have lunch or dinner at the tall ships according to their time of trip. All these things which called above will be free for them in tall ships. In the exhibition house, there will be beverages, snacks, appetizers and food. The snacks will be free.However, the beverages and food will be paid at the whole d ay. It is thought that the company will make collaboration with â€Å"La Place† in the exhibition house and they will give the ten percent commission from their revenues to the event company. After tall ship trips, there will be â€Å"Business Networking Cocktail† in the exhibition house. The beverages and cocktails will be free in these closing cocktails. For the menu list of welcome cocktails, Business Networking Cocktails, lunch and dinners, the concept of Dutch flag tried to be implemented. Lots of the food and beverages are red, white and blue which just fit into the concept. There are also traditional Dutch food in the list.However, there are still some food and beverages which are not from the Dutch flag concept and traditional Dutch food or beverages. Again, here it can be said that it still can be considered as carrying the aspect of Dutch flag concept, the color of red; international. There are some examples and images of food and beverages which are traditio nal in the Netherlands or fits to the Dutch flag concept: †¢ Dutch Dessert: served in a double glass. On the bottom there will be blue colored crushed ice, above that a glass with the dessert in it. First a white level with chocolate mousse. Plus a level with strawberries. So you will get: red – white – blue. Tiny smoke-house. Smoked food like â€Å"gerookte paling† are typical Dutch fish. In this moment it is very trendy to smoke your own salmon or eel (paling). Smoked stands for fire, so this refers to the flag (red – fire). It would be a great idea to have a place for a smoke house, where they can get smoked fish. Further, they can also get Dutch fish like oysters and mussels from Zeeland. This stands for the water which refers to the flag (blue – water). †¢ Red, white and blue cotton candies (a candy made by spinning sugar that has been boiled to a high temperature). Cotton candy is typical Dutch and you can make it in every color. Di nner and more: stampot and klapstuk, sudderlapjes and draadjesvlees. Plus pancakes (also for breakfast), poffertjes and oliebollen. †¢ Cheese with flags in it (cheese is typical of the Netherlands). Because of the different stages (red, white and blue), the target group is also very wide. At the red area there will be a lounge area, where people can relax and listen to lounge music. The target group for this area is almost everyone who loves to relax and nice music. At the white area there will be a great show with DJ’s and performances.For this area the target group are people who like to party and pop music. At the blue area will be all about water, with a foam party, showers and water balloons. The target group are people who like dance music, while enjoying water in different ways. 3. 2. 2 Program The program of the B2C event will be one time in a week. In total there will be two festivals during the Olympic Games. Over all, the process stays the same for every day. The festivals are in order to celebrate the Dutch achievements. In the tables below you can find the program for the festival area, which is divided into three areas: red, white and blue. An overview of the different areas can be found in appendix. Red area:When the visitors are tired from a full day of party and fun, they can take some time to recover in the red area. People who need a quiet moment to come down and just need a break, are at the right area. Here they can recognize that they are participating the most great full event in the world. The music that will be played is typical lounge music, which are known from the beach clubs in the Netherlands. During the chill out, there will be fire-breathing show guys who will entertain the lounging guests. At the end of each day, there will be firework, which starts with colors red, white and blue and ends with only orange. Figure 3. 2: White area Blue Area During the Olympic the hot summer days and the enthusiasm could be very exhausting. When the visitors need some refreshment they could go to the blue area. They can enjoy the foam-party, cold showers or participate in a water balloon fight. It is perfect to meet some new people and to refresh. Facility description 3. 2. 3 LocationThe location of the festival will be Greenwich. The festival will take place two days and it will include 20. 000 people. Why Greenwich? The location of Greenwich is perfect for this type of festival. It has an great infrastructure and it’s reachable in any kind of way. It is six minutes by DLR (Docklands Light Railway from the London City airport. It also has an excellent connection to high speed rail terminals but, also for the underground of London (Jubliee line Tube). Greenwich has also parking for 2000 cars and coaches and It has shuttles to any kind of accommodation in the neighborhood. Greenwich is also the location for many big festivals in London. -The Red Bull Air Race The UK leg of the Tour de France -The London Marathon So it has the capacity to handle a large festival like this. 3. 2. 4 Decoration The decoration in the three areas will also be in the co lors of the Dutch flag. Since there are a red, white and blue area, the decoration will also be in the color of the area. The Greenwich area will be deposited, so there will be two entrances. At the entrances there will be 2 Dutch flags and a large orange carpet at each entrance. Between the trees there will be banners with our slogan on it, to make sure everyone knows what the festival is about. ? At the red area there is a lounge area with couches and beach chairs.There is a large red carpet underneath those. Furthermore in the middle of the area there is sand on the ground to create a beach atmosphere. ? At the white area there will be a stage for all the DJ’s and performances. This stage is white and is decorated with Dutch flags. ? The blue area is divided in two places. The first place has a large blue carpet with two big foam machines next to it. This is the carpet where the foam party takes place. On the other carpet there is a possibility to just enjoy water. People can have water balloon fight at this place. 3. 2. 5 Build-up and break-off The building up of the business to consumer event starts about one week before the first festival.In this time the stages are being build, the F&B will be prepared and the place will be sold. Furthermore there will be taking care of the decoration, the toilet areas and the different areas (red, white and blue). After the event is done, it will take a couple of days to rebuild everything and remove all the above. 3. 2. 6 Food and beverage Food All the area’s will have a food court. This food court will exist from different kinds of food. There will be one food suppliers who takes care of all the area’s. this is to make it easier for both sides. There will be one manager who is responsible for the food courts. Human Resources 4. 1 StrategyThe human resources within the company is a well-organized department that tries to motivate its workers as the first aim. As the company organizes events, the human resources is responsible from hiring new eployees, human resources planning, job applications, employee choices, education and improvement, performance evaluation, working relations, healthy and safety, employee and employer relations and so on. The department tries to motivate its employees and tries to increase productivity. It is tried to get maximum benefit from the employees’ skills, knowledge and capabilities to reach the efficiency and then effectiveness. The department tries to have the employees motivated and satisfied from their work both financially and psychologically.The quality of work is tried to be increased so that the motivation and the eagerness to work should be stable. For all these, some orientations and trainings are organized for the employees to follow new trends and developments and keep them on tie. And when it comes to concept, it can be said that it is the Dutch flag and each color stands for something else. Red is Olympic fire, international, Olympic Games 2028 and white stands for wind, new ideas, innovative and blue represents water, life and survive. And orange represents the Dutch feeling and can be seen as a frame of the flag. At this point, it can be said that the department is very innovative and come up with new ideas with the help of following trends and developments within the industry.It is tried to hire only Dutch people and people who can â€Å"see the world through Dutch eyes†. In addition, it is needed every employee and volunteer to speak also fluent English so that they can introduce the Netherlands well to people or customers from all around the world. When it comes to orientations, the aim of Olympic Games 2028 is tried to be imposed to the employees and to promote the Netherlands will be reached with the help of them. 4. 2 Outsourcing Apart from volunteers, the company will outsource the employees for security and technical departments. The reason is that these departments need more skills and render more heavy and prominent work which cannot be considered as â€Å"easy† as other departments like F&B.For cleaning and maintenance, the company will have volunteers. For the F&B part, the company will have two chefs to cook on tall ships. However, it is still needed to have volunteers to serve food and beverages. In addition, the supervisors will not be volunteers; the company will hire and pay for them since they need to have some specific skills to manage the volunteers and subordinates. Selection Recruitment and selection for the departments are going to be done with by the human resource department. The company will outsource the catering company and security. Supervisors for food and beverage will be paid employees. The volunteers can be found with the help of an advertisement on the website of the event. The people can send their CVs directly from there. Eager to work Good communication skills Selection This time, the Human Resource department will do the selection according to the criteria. They will make interviews with the people who applied to be a vol unteer in the event and then the selection will be made. Training Trainings will be implemented for volunteers one week before the event. However, the volunteers who will work for B2B event will need more time for training as it is more important. The HR department will manage the trainings with the help of facility manager. They will have the trainings for the subjects like hospitality, communication, bar skills and waiter-waitress skills. Accommodation and MotivationThe volunteers will stay at the Camp Sites which will be provided by the event company. The Camp Sites will be close to the event area and by doing this; the transportation expenses will be avoided. In addition, the volunteers will have the breakfast in the camp sites as a breakfast buffet and they will have the lunch and dinner in the area. The department will give them tickets to get the food and beverages. There are of course some benefits for volunteers to work in this event. First of all it is an unforgettable exp erience for volunteers which will bring self-enjoyment. The Olympic games try to be a sustainable as possible; Philips has also a strong focus on sustainability. Being the sponsor of this event, Philips can promote that they are sustainable. Also they get a stand at the exhibition.The event will get in return that Philips can arrange the light and sound equipment that is needed. Another potential sponsor for B2B is AVIAREPS tourism. This is a company th at takes care of destination marketing for the Netherlands. This company can help us with the marketing, by promoting the festival on their website. In return they will get free publicity and they can get a stand at the exhibition. 5. 2 Business to Consumer A potential sponsor for the festival will be Radio 538. This is a very famous radio station in the Netherlands, who are very popular with people at different ages. Radio538 can sponsor the festival to arrange the music in the blue area.They will get in return a very wide publicity and that may increase the amount of listeners. Sport fans from all over the world is our audience for the B2C concept. We took a closer look at the customers, to discover if our concept meets the wishes and needs of our target group. So we selected some criteria to segment the audience.The research, to get to know how we can involve their needs into our concept, is based on several segment cr iteria and the Euro Social Style. We divided the segment criteria into three groups: †¢ Demographic †¢ Psychographic †¢ Behavior To get a more specific point of view, we divided these criteria into subgroups. Because we have two different kind of events, there will be two different kind of target groups. The Business to Consumer (B2C) target group will be described below. Demographic criteria The visitors who come to the Olympic Games are sport fans. These fans can consist of adults or young people. Age The young people, who are attending the Olympic Games, have the age between 16 and 25 years old.This generation, the young people who are born between 1977 and 1994, is called Generation Y. The adults have the age between 25 and 35 years old. Social class There is a high differentiation between the type of sport fans. This group consists of the lower, middle and higher class. The middle class group is the biggest one of sport fans and they want to spend money to go to an event, so that is the group we are focusing on. This group is also called as â€Å"Dink†. They are younger couples of 25 years and older and have a double income and no kids. Psychographic criteria Personality Our target group are familiar with computers and internet and easily spends money.They have less time for leisure, so they buy things online (do their banking online and works at home also in the weekend). They are quite egocentric, they life in a do it yourself culture. Furthermore, they are digitally oriented. They always want to have internet, wherever they are. Finally, they knows and feels exactly which brand is the right brand for them. â€Å"Gen Y is seeking more, after than just friendships. They want community to be understood, accepted, respected and included† (the Australian leadership foundation). They strive to make realize what their peers expect of them and their self respect often rests on how well regarded they are in their group. They are ver y loyal to their friends (Kotler, 2009) LifestyleFor this target group, it is important to follow up on trends. Generation Y is an attractive group for marketers, because they always want the newest of the newest. Some interests are that they like to spend their spare time the most on: going to a party (74%), listening to the radio (74%) and going to a movie (72%). They are also interested in sports and healthy food. Behavior Consumption Generation Y is not raised in a time of financial crisis. The younger people do not have financial responsibilities: their parents, the baby boomers, have a high income and they are raised in a time of using credit cards and loans. That is why their consumption behavior is high.Because of the fast technological developments, there is a high change of products. Generation Y always want to have the newest things, so they change their products very fast. They are willing to invest a lot of money to get involved into a certain group. Brand loyalty When it comes down to brands, they are not very brand loyal. Because they want to follow the trends, so they want to buy the trends which is trendy in a certain moment. Sometimes they want to wear a specific brand, because then they have the feeling they belong to a kind of group. Marketing segmentation B2B An event like the Olympics has an enormous scale with people, so it is important to know the audience. Our audience comes from all over the world.We selected some criteria, to make our audience more specific for out B2B concept. We took a closer look at the business people, to discover if our concept meets the need and wishes of the target group. In this way, we know how we can involve their needs into our concept. During a lot of years they have a lot of nicknames, such as yuppies, yummies, dinky's, DEWK's and sloppies (Kotler, 2009). The Baby Boomers belong to the welfare or higher social classes, because of their parents. They had enough money and a high education, so they could send their children to school. This also applies for Generation X. Psychographic criteria Personality The personality of the Baby Boomers mostly exists of that they are independent, active, ambitious and career oriented. They always want to be informed about the news and they are interested in classical music, health care and travelling.On the other hand we have Generation X, who want to remain traditional famil ies and want availability for their children. They created a more cautious economic awareness, because they grew up in an economical crisis. They want to be informed about the regional news and are more aware of products prices. Their interests are music, movies, travelling and raising their kids. Lifestyle Every day, the Baby Boomers are watching television for 2 or 3 hours, of whom 61% is interested in Dutch television (NL 1). 84% of the Baby Boomers uses internet. To compare prices, they make use of advertisements or the internet. Because they have enough money, they can make life comfortable for themselves. They go more than once a year on a holiday.Generation X is more busy with visiting family and friends, shopping and going to a movie. As well as the Baby Boomers, they compare prices on the internet and watch television for 2 or 3 hours every day, but they have more interest in RTL4. The biggest difference between these two, is the interests and income. Behavior Consumption T he most Baby Boomers are doing their purchases at the Dutch store Albert Heijn. Is there is a discount at another shop, like Aldi, C1000 or Lidl, they will go to that store. Most of their money is spend on hot meals, going out for dinner, computers and holidays. Generation X does the same thing with their purchases and their spending pattern. Brand loyaltyTo buy well-known brands gives both of the generations a certain status. They stick to a brand, because they are used to it and know exactly what they deliver. 6. 5 Pricing strategy B2C It is important that there is a good price for the customers, because they have to buy the ticket. That is why Eventastic uses buyers' perception of value as the key to pricing. First we analyze the customers' needs and value perception. A price is set to match the customers' perceived value, based upon the needs and value perception. Visitors want some experience during the event, so they want value for their price. If it is worth it, they are will ing to pay a high price.So quantity and quality have to be equal. London is well known for the fact that it rains very often also during the summer. In the HBPH and within the Tall-ships it is not necessary to calculate this risk because it is inside. For the outside area between the ships and the weather deck on the tall ships pavilions and umbrellas are available. During the B2C festival ponchos can be bought. Control the density To control the density it is necessary to know how many people can be at same spot at the same time. There is one bigger entrance that is also used as an exit and two emergency exits. All three exits are in different direction so that it would be easy to leave the building (Appendix II). Through security control and good communication between the employees at the entrance of the Tall-ships not all guests will enter the ships at the same time. That is why there will be no bottleneck at the entrance. Festival area To reduce the pressure of the crowed the tickets can be bought and print in advance though website. The festival area in Greenwich at the orange festival plaza has a size of 25. 000 sqm.
